Won the coconut lottery
The other day I was opening a coconut, so at first I tried to drain the fluid out by poking a thin knife in the coconut eyes, which didn't work. So eventually I just gave up and cracked the thing. No wonder the fluid wouldn't come out.

Dude, I heard you like coconuts, so I put a coconut in your coconut...

So this is what a coconut sprout looks like. David and Sue told me about it when we had drank the juice from a mature coconut (so not a drinking coconut) and I heard something rattle inside the supposed-to-be empty coconut. They said that it could be a sprout, and that it's a delicacy that was supposed to be really good, and also that they had never tried it. So, exited I smashed the coconut, only to find a lump of ice in it. Guess if I was surprised (Sue had put the coconut in the fridge so that the juice would be cold, and apparently that was enough to freeze some of it). This time I was equally surprised.

It felt like winning the lottery, and though curious to try it I saved it for the next day so that David could try it as well. I had this expectancy that it would taste like a mild, maybe sweet version of coconut flesh. So during morning tea I cut it up, it had a really weird spongey texture. And I must admit I got disappointed, it almost didn't taste anything at all. Samoan delicacies may not be my cup of tea.
